Dear Host Family, I am writing to introduce myself and express my sincere desire to stay at your homestay for two weeks. My name is Lily Jiang, a international Massey MBA from China. I am 40+ years old, and I have always been passionate about experiencing local culture, which is why I chose to stay with a homestay family instead of a hotel—this is the best way to immerse myself in the local life, learn about your customs, and even pick up some daily local expressions.
I am a friendly, respectful, and easy-going person who values cleanliness and mutual respect. During my two-week stay, I will strictly abide by your family rules, such as keeping quiet during rest hours, cleaning up after myself in the shared areas (kitchen, living room), and not bringing strangers to the homestay without your permission. I am also a tidy person, so you don’t have to worry about my room being messy; I will keep it organized and clean at all times.
I usually have a regular schedule. In the morning, I will get up around 7:00 AM, make a simple breakfast (if allowed) and clean up the kitchen afterward. During the day, I plan to explore the local area and have classes at Massey University. In the evening, I will return to the homestay around 8:00 PM(depending on the school's schedule), and I would love to chat with you for a while if you have time, to hear about your life, share my experiences, and learn more about your family and local culture.
I have no dietary restrictions and am happy to try local food; if you are willing to let me join your family meals occasionally, I would be very grateful, and I am also happy to help with simple housework, such as setting the table, washing dishes, or taking out the trash, to show my thanks for your hospitality. I am quiet at night and will not disturb your rest—usually, I will read a book or write articles using my laptop quietly in my room.
I understand that living with a host family requires mutual understanding and tolerance, and I will do my best to be a good guest. I hope that during these two weeks, I can not only have a comfortable place to stay but also build a friendly relationship with your family. Thank you very much for considering my request, and I look forward to the opportunity to stay with you and experience the warmth of a local family.
