About Erin

Hi, I’m Erin, a PhD Researcher from Hong Kong, and I’ll be coming to Auckland for a three-month research stay at AUT. I’m a quiet, friendly and independent person who enjoys a calm and regular routine, and I’m hoping to find a home that feels safe, clean and comfortable.

🏠Accommodation preferences
- Looking for a private bedroom with its own bathroom and a desk, plus access to a kitchen for daily cooking
- Prefer an all-female or female-majority household
- Hope for a home that feels safe, clean and quiet, with good sound levels for working from home
- Ideally furnished with basic household items so I can move in with just my luggage
- Prefer a neighbourhood with a nearby gym and supermarket, and convenient public transport to AUT City Campus
- Budget range: NZD 250–450 per week, all inclusive (utilities and internet included)

🗓️ Stay dates
- Planned stay: 12 October 2026 – 12 January 2027
- I will arrive in Auckland on 1 October 2026 and stay in the city centre for the first few days to settle in

🚪Viewing plans
- I plan to visit potential homestays between 3 October and 11 October 2026
- I would be happy to arrange a viewing and meet in person during that time if we both feel it could be a good match

🤗 About me
- I am a 4th-year PhD candidate in Geography and Resource Management at The Chinese University of Hong Kong, focusing on tourism geography and feminist geography
- Currently living alone in a rented flat in Hong Kong; I also have two years of past flat-sharing experience, and have always maintained friendly relationships with my landlords
- Quiet, independent and easy-going; I respect shared spaces, communicate clearly and value mutual understanding
- Work pattern: I mostly work from home, and cook three meals a day for myself
- Daily rhythm: early to bed and early to rise, usually asleep around 9 pm and up around 6 am; I love sleeping well and keeping a regular schedule
- Languages: speak English, Mandarin, and Cantonese
- Personality: ISFJ – calm and introverted at first, but often step into a more outgoing role when needed; quiet but not boring
- Lifestyle: love surfing, hiking, going to the gym, reading, painting, and playing ukulele (and simple piano pieces) in my free time
- Very health-conscious: non-smoker, do not drink alcohol
- I love dogs and regularly volunteer at a dog adoption shelter in Hong Kong
- I enjoy cleaning and keeping a tidy home, and I do daily and weekly cleaning as part of my routine
- I enjoy travelling alone and have previously travelled solo in New Zealand (Auckland and Dunedin, 2023), and I really love the natural environment here

Thank you again for reading a little about me. I would truly appreciate the chance to find a home that feels peaceful, respectful and welcoming during my time in Auckland. If you think we may be a good match, I’d be very glad to hear from you, and I’d also be happy to answer any questions you may have about me 😊
